However, he made it very clear that he doesn't want to be team manager in the Great Circus, having had enough of that through the past couple of decades.
“I was thrown out as though I was a criminal. I will never come back to Formula One as team manager, but perhaps (I will return) after 2012 in another role,” said Briatore, talking to Italy's Sky Sport 24 earlier this week.
The soon-to-be-60 Italian was found guilty of fixing the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix and “sentenced” to life outside all FIA-sanctioned motorsport activities and championships. The Paris' Tribunal de Grande Instance reversed that decision, saying that the ruling body has no right to impose that kind of sanction to a member that is not affiliated to the ruling body.
However, the Paris court did not issue any verdicts on whether Briatore was or wasn't guilty, and the FIA is currently working on a appeal for that decision.
Bernie Ecclestone, Formula One supremo and former business associate of Flavio Briatore at English football club Queens Park Rangers – from which the Italian recently resigned from his position of CEO – hinted that the 59-year old could take on a promoting role in Formula One when finally deciding to come back.
“I think he could take up a role in the promotion of Formula One,” said Ecclestone a few days ago.
When he was a representative of Renault F1 in the Formula One Teams Association (FOTA), Briatore was in charge of promoting responsibilities within the teams' body.
