Ladies and gentlemen, you are looking at the fruit of the passion between BMW and Italian coachbuilder Zagato. The BMW Zagato Coupe has been conquering the hearts of enthusiasts for a few days now, but BMW still hasn’t told us what engine hides under the hood.

Since the car is based on the Z4, we guessed it was the 2979cc forced induction unit, but we didn’t know if this has the same 340 hp output as on the range-topping sDrive 35is version. Until now that is.

Youtube member Marchetinno managed to capture the vehicle on camera and claims that this comes with 400 hp. This would make it a real performer, as the aluminum body allows it to ditch 200 kg (440 lbs) compared to the standard Z4. He’s posted a video of the car that allows us to listen to the sweet voice of the straight six.

However, the BMW Zagato Coupe will enter limited production at best, with the pricing probably set to play in the six-figure area, so don’t expect it to come to you too easily.
