BMW Z4 Takes Over London
We were mentioning at that time that the campaign, called “Expression of Joy”, is based on the collaboration between BMW, contemporary artist Robin Rhode and filmmaker Jake Scott.
Rhode choreographed the movements of two BMW Z4 Roadsters mounted with special paint dispensers behind the wheels to create a football-field size painting, while Scott captured all the action with 40 simultaneous camera angles.
So, based on the same painting dynamics, BMW took over the streets of London with a massive BMW Z4 Augmented Reality symbol, a laptop and a webcam.
Tiny new Z4s come to life, grow big and conquer the streets of London, leaving painted swirling shapes in primary colors like red, yellow and blue. One source of inspiration was the seminal work of Gerhard Richter´s series of paintings ‘Red, Yellow, Blue’ made in 1973 for the company headquarters in Munich, Germany”, Rhode explains.
The new Z4 retains the classic shape of a roadster, with a long hood and short overhangs. The storage space for the Z4 has been increased compared to the previous version. The model comes with several engine configurations ranging between 150 kW (204 hp) and 225 kW (306 hp), each of them offering Dynamic Drive Control as standard and Adaptive M Suspension as optional.
The Z4 sDrive30i develops a maximum power of 255 horsepower and a maximum torque of 220 lb-ft, being able to accelerate from naught to 60 in 5.6 seconds. The sDrive35i uses two turbochargers which allow the car to reach 60 in just over 5 seconds, thanks to its 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque.
