The over-discussed BMW X5 M and X6 M may be unveiled as soon as next month but it's currently unclear whether the German manufacturer plans to showcase the two models at the New York Auto Show or during a private media launch to be organized in April. In addition, bmwblog.com today informs that BMW has launched a separate X5 M and X6 M website counting the days till the official launch of the two vehicles.
Unfortunately, details are pretty limited at this point, so beside a few spyshots and prototypes spotted in different regions of Germany, we can't talk too much about the two models.
The only official things we got from BMW were actually a couple of teasers and videos showing the X6 M prototype during a testing session.
Just like we told you back in January, the prototype was equipped with an upgraded V8 M Turbo engine with twin scroll turbo chargers, currently available on the 7 Series. In addition, it came with permanent all-wheel drive and BMW's Dynamic Performance Control, a feature also available on the standard X6 model.
“We enhance the trust in the car, trying to get more performance,” Bernd Limmer from the BMW M GmbH said in a teaser video published in early January. "V8 M Turbo Engine with twin scroll turbo chargers – enhanced, of course. All in this all-wheel-drive X6," he added. "The motor will vary the torque from the right to the left. So the faster wheel will even be faster, instead of slower."
You can check out for yourself the videos and the photos showing the X6 M prototype in this article.
