BMW X5 Gets Luxury Car of the Decade Award

BMW is getting more and more awards throughout the world, as the German manufacturer has recently been voted on several occasions as the leading carmaker on the luxury segment. Things continue to go very well for BMW, as the X5 was named UK’s luxury used car of the decade by CAP.

The X5 received this award because experts in residual value and whole life costs say this car has set a new benchmark, as it is the first 4x4 which felt right at home on the motorway. Apparently, the judges were impressed with the X5’s usability, its quality build and its influence on the UK’s auto market.

“For the used car buyer who does need a workhorse, with towing power and room for the whole family’s holiday load, the 2000 – 2006 BMW X5 provides it. But it also offers the opportunity to leave the green wellingtons and the horse box at home and enjoy driving as a pleasure in itself,” said Mike Hind, CAP Communications Manager.

Ever since the X5 was launched on the UK market back in 2000, the car had impressive success among the British customers, as it was sold in no less than 65,353 units. As the first model to feature BMW’s xDrive technology, the X5 also became an inspiration for other BMW models.

BMW has been offering the Service Inclusive package in the United Kingdom for some time. Starting at a price of only £250, the BMW Service Inclusive package lasts for five years or 60,000 miles and covers the cost of all labour and parts for routine servicing. The package is also transferable to the next owner.
