The good news we received this weekend from BMW is incredible. A short press release claims that the company will be unveiling two new concept cars at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The question that remains to be answered is: what will they be?
It’s even more exciting as the release claims that this will be the first time we’ll be seeing them so the CSL Hommage concept is out of the books already. Judging by the photo they provided (the one headlining this article) it’s going to be a sports car but there are too many options on the table to be sure about which one it will be.

At least one of them will be celebrating 40 years of BMW presence on the North American market. That makes us think of the M2 or the M4 CSL / GTS. Why? Because BMW made its debut on the American market with the iconic 3.0CSL that was wearing the Motorsport logos on it when it came out during endurance racing.

A funny story even says that Americans first thought that the BMW acronym stood for British Motor Works as Bavaria was a land too far away and obscure for them.

That being said, it could be the new BMW F87 M2. The only problem with that is that we know it’s going into production this winter. Therefore, it would leave a rather unusually small time interval between the concept unveiling and the production-ready version’s presentation.

The M4 GTS/CSL seems like a safer bet from this point of view. That’s because we don’t have a production schedule right now and because it could bring a lot more new technology to the mix that would then be used on other models as well.

Either way, there’s a third possibility in the mix too, an upgraded version of the i8 or how the world likes to call it, the i8S. That’s the one unicorn we’ve been hunting for months now with BMW consistently denying its existence. As a matter of fact, the fervor with which the Germans have been saying ‘no’ to it is what makes us even more interested, to be honest.

No official info is available, but it is rumored that such a model exists and that it will be BMW’s gift to its customers on its 100th anniversary, next year. Fingers crossed! Whatever they decided to unveil, we’re pretty sure it’s going to be well received.
