BMW S 1000 RR Flash Projection Experiment

German motorcycle brand BMW has recently used subliminal advertising as an experiment to promote their latest supersport bike. In a cinema, the guys at BMW projected an ad for their S 1000 RR motorcycle starring Ruben Xaus. The video below explains the whole process and also the original S1000RR motorcycle ad.

Produced by Serviceplan in Munich, towards the end of the ad, the BMW logo has been projected in a flash. No visible logo was displayed in the ad. Towards the end, Xaus asked the audience to close their eyes. Incredible enough, those that did saw the BMW logo.

The S 1000 R is powered by a 999 cc DOHC, inline-four screamer of an engine that revs to 14,000 rpm. Making 193 hp (starting 13,000 rpm), the 2010 BMW S1000RR has the most powerful 1000cc production engine currently on the market.

The bike tips the scales at 183kg (403.3 lbs) dry or 204kg (449.5 lbs) fully fueled, and it also has a very good power to weight ratio. The exhaust system is built as a 4-into-2-into-1 with an extending into large-volume pre-silencer and a short rear-end silencer.

Suspension is handled via a pair of massive 46mm front forks. Dual front Brembo four-piston radial calipers grab 320mm rotors, while out back a single-piston Brembo caliper grabs a 220mm disc.

The bike costs $13,800 (under EUR10,000), which is good enough to compete with Japanese rivals like the Yamaha R1 and Honda CBR1000 RR.

A chart explaining the process has also been released and can be found in the adjacent image.
