BMW Releases First Promo Videos for 2012 1-Series

The marketing team in charge of the new BMW 1-Series hatchback is going to find it hard to promote the model, as things have not gone according to plan. The full specs, pricing and a full photo gallery was leaked onto the internet Friday evening, forcing the Bavarians to rethink their strategy and full unveil the car at the beginning of the week.

That hasn’t stopped the marketing machine from churning away, and a pair of commercials has been released to promote the 2012 BMW 1-Series. BMW has dreamed up a plot in which two twin brothers have totally different personalities, but they share their love for the 2012 BMW 1 Series.

What this commercial subliminally implies is that the 1er is the perfect choice for tall, young men with chiseled jaws and model looks, so it’ll be just fine for us regular folks. The 1-Series is also portrayed as the right set of wheels for the city dweller that’s active and appreciates good handling.

This is also our first chance to see the new 1-Series in motion and we can say it looks even better than when it was standing still. This car will look decent on the high-street, provided that you go for a bold color and plenty of chrome.

As we’re already reported, under that sculpted bonnet, BMW has decided to launch the 2012 1-Series exclusively with four-cyinder engines. The five-door hatchback is available with a pair of 1.6-liter gasoline engines with direct injection that offer 136 hp on the 116i and 170 hp in the case of the 118i. This must be the first time that a BMW with “18” in its name sounded attractive. The diesel family is all about the 2.0-liter engine that offers between 116 and 186 hp in the 120d.
