Several BMW models have been recalled in Canada, CMG informs. The reported defects are not extremely severe, but could cause unpleasant consequences if left unattended.
First off, it's the Canadian recall campaign number 2013380, which is aimed at (so far) 2431 bikes, namely 2006-2009 BMW F800S and BMW F800ST. Some of these bikes may have installed an incorrectly manufactured rear wheel bearing which might wear excessively fast.

This could cause a play in the rear wheel assembly, abnormal noise and harshness, and in severe cases, it can also cause the rear wheel to malfunction, by slowing it down. Dealers will inspect the rear wheel bearing and replace it free of charge.

The second BMW recall campaign has the number 2013369, and it targets at least 283 2011-2012 BMW K1600GT and K1600 GTL bikes. These machines may see an engine throttle valve malfunctioning due to a control software problem.

In certain cases the engine may stall and you don't need us to tell you this is bad. Dealers will update the software, free of charge.

For more details, please check with your nearest BMW Motorrad dealer. Needless to say we might get these recalls in the US, too.
