BMW Motorrad to Spend $1 Million in Contingency Money for S1000RR Racers

Back in the day, we told you that BMW Motorrad was looking forward to growing its presence in international series and racing events around the world. The German manufacturer seemed keener to develop its own racing structures than to participate in the World Superbike.

For 2015, the house of Munich has prepared one million US dollars (€898,000) to be spent as contingency money towards registered S1000RR riders who take place in certain events.

2014 and 2015 MY S1000RR superbikes qualify for the program

BMW Motorrad is helping independent riders cover a part of their costs as long as they are taking part in certain events aboard 2014 or 2015 model year S1000RR machinery. Several conditions apply, and privateer riders who want to earn BMW's contingency money should do well to heed them.

These rules apply both in the more technical field as well as in the aesthetic one. For example, "a BMW logo must be visible on both sides of the main fairing or on both sides of the tail section or swingarm, and the BMW logo must remain on the gas tank" are only few of these requirements.

Three series are comprised in the program

For obvious reasons, factory-supported teams and riders are not eligible for the BMW contingency money program. Registration and a full set of rules can be accessed on the dedicated website, xtrm.com. Payments will be made using PayPal, BMW informs us.

So far, three racing series are part of the program. Riders competing in the CCS, MotoAmerica, and the Were National Challenge are in for the goodies. There is no word on whether this program will be extended to more series, or whether it will reach other markets.
