The ABS Pro braking package was introduced as a retrofit option back in October 2014, with the HP4 high-performance superbike being the initial model that benefited from this upgrade. ABS Pro offers the same functionality as traditional anti-locking brakes, but retains it even when the bike leans into a turn.

June 2015 saw BMW's S1000XR sport-adventure machine equipped with ABS Pro ex-works, the first bike to ever sport this technology right off the mill. BMW found out that the ABS Pro was a most welcome addition to its models, as customers wanted to have their bikes equipped with this technology, so the move was only natural.

The R1200GS was the next BMW to receive ABS Pro as ex-works option

Seeing the 2016 model year R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure machines being the next ones to receive the ABS Pro as an ex-works option is not at all surprising. These two models are driving BMW's business like no other, with the R1200GS accounting for the heftiest chunk of the worldwide sales.

The two adventure bikes have become available with ABS Pro as an ex-works option from August 2015, while September also brought the option to retrofit them. Either way, they can be hand for €630, roughly $710. Retrofitting ABS Pro brakes on the 2015 MY S1000XR can also be done as of September 2015 for €600 ($675).

Model year 2012-2014 S1000RR superbikes will receive the ABS Pro retrofitting option from October 2015, setting customers back with €420-460 ($470-515). BMW is making preparations for equipping the 2015 and 2016 MY S1000RR bikes with the ABS Pro.

The system is also present on the 2016 model year K1600 GT/GTL/GTL Exclusive touring flagships, but it is standard from August this year.
