BMW M8 Supercar Coming in 2016 With 600 HP
To celebrate this event, the company wants to prove it too can make a supercar, one that could share some of its underpinnings with the i8 plug-in hybrid but which could offer a proper petrol head's engine. Usually, we'd dismiss such information as begin pre speculation. After all, anybody can look at the i8 and say it would be a supercar if they put a big engine in the back. But the insight comes directly from M division boss Friedrich Nitschke, who said the car is known internally as the M8.
The engine chosen for BMW's second supercar ever is a twin-turbo V8 producing somewhere around 600 horsepower, an adaptation of the S63 an S63Tu found in today's M models. But being a halo car for BMW, it will most likely focus on radical weight savings and increased aerodynamic efficiency as well.
