The BMW 6 Series has long been a status symbol that said: "I'm doing well." But in 2012, the Bavarians decided to up their game with the Gran Coupe, taking inspiration from the popular Mercedes CLS-Class model.
It hasn't been as successful as the X6, but enough people bought one. The tuning industry wasn't blown away either, as the famous Japanese company Wald International only now revealed the Black Bison package for the 4-door Sixer.
As always, the package is so sleek that it could pass as something made by BMW. But there are a few angles that are more Lexus than German design.
The Black Bison kit targets the Gran Coupe's aerodynamics. We can't be sure that it will stick better to the ground, but at least it looks the part. At the front, the 6er has been blessed with a whole new bumper, featuring reshaped air intakes in the typical Wald style.
From top views, you can also see the added spoiler. This being an M6, it also comes with a sinister black grille and LED headlights. Moving quickly down the side of the car, we see that Wald has installed new side skirts with a larger profile, larger 22-inch wheels, and tires with a negligible sidewall.
It's the back that we don't enjoy very much. Wald's design team install a sort of double grille on the sides of the number plate. With a diffuser and quad exhaust pipes back there, it's too busy for how sleek the rest of the car is. The only other upgrade happening is a subtle trunk spoiler. But because it's the same color as the rest of the car, black, you can barely see it from most angles.
This is Japan. Where are the Bosozoku exhaust pipes, the massive wings and air suspension? We know it's not Wald's style, but would it really hurt them to try something different once in a while?
