BMW M6 Facelift Spied Testing in Production Guise

Along with the entire 6 Series, BMW want to freshen up the M6 as well in a couple of months, 2015 being a full year for the Bavarian manufacturer. The high-performance GT will get new small details across the front fascia just like its ‘regular’ brothers.

However, that’s about it when it comes to new elements on the LCI model. The new M6 will get a refreshed front bumper but you’ll have to squint really hard to spot the differences. Other changes might take place under the skin, though.

Just last year the M6 was getting the Competition Package alongside the M5 LCI. That meant that enthusiasts could order a car with more power (15 extra HP), a revised suspension, new rear differential and lower ground clearance, all in the hopes of making the M6 what the people hoped for: a true track car.

Unfortunately, despite improving the car rather drastically, the M6’s weight still worked against it on the track. So, with the new model the same things can be expected as a drop in weight would be impossible at this moment, without drastically changing the car.

Even so, recent rumors point out that the M6 could be used by BMW in Motorsport events on the North American continent, replacing the current Z4 GTLM. Such a move could bring forward a couple of limited edition models that would be more track focused than ever, with a lower kerb weight. No official confirmation was received though until now.

In the meantime, we’ll have to rely on the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with its more than hefty 560 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque until the new model comes out somewhere in 2018.
