Owning a BMW M4 is the closest thing you can get next to a legendary BMW M3 Coupe. We’re kidding of course, but in reality, since the M3 Coupe is no longer made, being replaced by the new model, the statement is somewhat true.
However, in order to get a new one, you’ll have to pony up $65,125 to begin with and that price tag will get you a stock car, fitted with plenty of features to make your life extremely comfortable nonetheless. Compared to the price of the E92 M3, it’s also $2,800 more and you might also have to pay $1,300 in gas-guzzler tax so you should have around $70,000 at your disposal for adrenaline inducing experiences.
Standard features include, in the good old fashion of BMW, a manual 6-speed gearbox, made specifically for this model and its sedan brother, an carbon fibre roof that looks absolutely crazy or a sunroof that will replace that CFRP beauty, for no cost.
You can get an automatic gearbox too, one that uses two clutches for lighting quick changes that will improve your 0-62 mph time by 0.2 seconds but that’s gonna be an extra $2,900.
Other optional features are priced the same as on other models, with the Carbon Ceramic Brakes setting you back $8,150, the Driver Assistant Plus is $1,900 and the Adaptive M Suspension is $950. However all of these are absolute optionals and you could do very well without them or the rest of the plethora of features the Germans are offering.
Speaking of germans, the prices in their home country are even bigger. The M4 Coupe starts at €75,300 in Germany which translates into $103,605 at today’s rates. Want the optional 7-speed DCT gearbox? Add €3,900 ($5,300) to that starting price and you’ll get a €79,200 ticket for even dreaming about the new M car.
Want ceramic brakes? €7,300 ($10,000) more. Care for some M Adaptive Suspension? €1,900 ($2,600). And things go on like that for every optional feature on that list. Don’t believe us? Check it out yourselves!
