It seems like people just can’t handle their torque and horsepower these days. Earlier today we saw a BMW F10 M5 rolled over on a field, taking half the grass with it along the way and now we’re looking at a brand new M4 crashed in a ditch somewhere in France.
If in the previous case we were talking about controlling a 4.4-liter V8 engine with two turbochargers that makes 560 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque (all of which is sent to the rear wheels), this time we’re dealing a much smaller block and more ‘decent’ numbers.
The M4 has only a 3-liter twinturbo engine under the bonnet, making 431 HP and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque. So, this one has 130 HP and 130 Nm less than the M5 but somehow, the driver found a way to crash it nonetheless, ending up face first into a ditch.
Even though the plates point to a local dealer we can’t really be sure that this is a demo car as deliveries have begun around the world. The damage is done anyway but the good news is that the airbags didn’t seem to deploy, meaning that the car will probably be fixed and put back on the road. Hopefully, into better hands this time.
