BMW M3 Dodges Massive Nurburgring Crash, Makes James Bond Exit

The latest adventure to come from the Aremberg corner entry sees what appears to be an E36 BMW M3 coming inches from a monster crash. And while miraculous saves in this area are nothing new, the spectacular manner in which this Bimmer spins is what catches the eye here.

We can see the driver overcooking it into the turn, as the M3's rate of speed is past the one that guarantees a one-piece corner exit. As expected, the rear end steps out and, given the high velocity value, the driver's countersteering efforts simply can hold the E36 in a straight line.

Nevertheless, all that steering wheel work eventually pays out, with the M3 spinning the other way before returning to a still-sideways track stint, which helped kill quite a lot of its momentum.

In fact, if we check out the wide-angle take on this near crash, we'll notice that the M3 did end up going towards the barrier on the right side of the track, but all that speed killing meant the driver could stop the BMW just before it hit the protection element.

As for the spectacle mentioned above, this saw the M3 throwing quite a lot of dust into the air, enough to cover the whole corner entry. And, as if we'd be talking about some classic James Bond car (Z8, anybody?) trying to lose its tail, the E36 sprayed the corner exit with freshly-cut grass, perfect for a little slide.

Oh well, at least the driver and his passenger, as well as the car, could easily go over this episode, albeit possibly requiring some washing.
