“BMW K75” and “streetfighter” are hardly two words I’d use in a non-negative sentence, but if we add the magic of Estonia-based Renard Speed Shop, things change, and they change for the better. This K75S sat in a German barn for more than a decade, after being involved in an accident, but it has come back to life in a spectacular way.
As the Beemer’s forks were bent and the tank had also take some beating, Renard Speed Shop stripped down the old bike and decided it could become a head-turning streetfighter. The whole rear section of the bike was rebuilt from scratch, with a different subframe and a reworked rear area of the tank, and with a new base pan for the bespoke Alcantara seat. The rear hump also got an R1150 tail lamp seamlessly included in the very leather.
Upside-down forks with radial calipers replaced the stock ones and the K75 also got wider 17” wheels for extra grip, while the stock brake and clutch masters were tossed and replaced with ISR hardware. The rear suspension was changed completely, with the Renard Speed Shop K75 now using a horizontal linkage shock mounted parallel to the swingarm, and which packs both style and excellent on-road performance, as the Estonian builder says.
The engine was in pretty good running condition, and after minor repairs, it also received custom exhaust headers and a Danmotos silencer with killer racing looks. The center of gravity for this BMW K75 went even lower, and Renard Speed Shop’s Andres says it rides surprisingly well through the turns, even with a heavy-hand mood. The lower edge of the tank still tells the keen observer that there was something more in there, but the bike looks so good that I’d rather say that “tooth” is there for some extra aggressive looks…
