BMW i8 Will Be a True Two-Faced Car

Since we heard the BMW i8 in action for the first time, we simply couldn’t stop thinking about it and how great it’s going to be. Therefore, we started snooping around the internet trying to find more footage of the car with adjacent audio.

Luckily, BMW already released a couple of press videos with the car last year and some of them made it on Youtube. Therefore we found one that shows the i8 and its incredibly good looking dash in detail.

You’d better be prepared for the moment the i8 hits the streets as the plug-in hybrid sports car will have both an unmistakable look (that is drop-dead gorgeous) and an unbelievably exciting sound that will mark you for life.

While you might think that the sound will be artificial and projected by speakers inside the car, we’re here to tell you different. In the video mentioned in the first paragraph, apparently the i8 was doing acceleration runs without any kind of Active Sound Design enabled. And it sounded glorious!

The bad news is that the end product will have ASD integrated and you won’t be able to turn it off. Furthermore, one of the exhaust pipes round the back will be fake and will have a speaker integrated in it, pumping fake noise outside.

Other interesting details are showcased in the video below, apart from the exhaust sound, details such as the turn signal lights (that coincide with the corona rings), the dash and how it changes depending on the driving mode, etc. It’s a pretty interesting clip.
