The middleweight BMW bikes received multiple updates for the model year 2017, and the most important is, obviously, the one things that makes the difference between carrying on or reaching the end of the line: compliance with the Euro 4 emission standards.
All three middleweight bikes, the F700GS, F800GS, and the F800GS Adventure are now Euro 4 compliant, and both BMW and the customers eyeing getting one of them in the future can rest assured that they will still be available for quite some time from now on.
Alongside with the new emission standards compliance come newly-designed exhaust silencers, complemented by a HP sport optional exhaust manufactured by the Slovenian gods Akrapovic.
These machines also receive an E-Gas ride-by-wire system that eliminates the throttle cables and takes these bikes into a new era. With the improved response of the throttle system also comes the possibility of using engine maps, and BMW prepared no less than four of them.
All three bikes come with Road and Rain modes as standard, but the F800GS and F800 GS Adventure can also be equipped with two extra ones as optional, Enduro and Enduro Pro, the latter being tailored for riders with extensive off-road experience.
The dashboards of the 2017 BMW F700GS, F800GS and F800GS Adventure have also been updated, with the instruments receiving new dials that offer more information and better readability. The LCD areas have been enlarged so that they include riding mode info, and and Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is now part of the stock trim.
The F700GS delivers 75 hp at 7000 rpm and a maximum torque of 77 Nm (56.7 lb-ft) at 5500 rpm, whereas the F800GS and F800GS Adventure is good for a peak power of 85 hp at 7500 revs per minute and 83 Nm (61.2 lb-ft) at 5750 rpm.
While the BMW ABS is standard, the bikes can also be imrpoved with ex works options such as the Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA). Also on the options list, customers can go for various trims, such as the Comfort or Dynamic Packages that include heated grips, on-board computers, a center stand. riding modes, with LED indicators and auxiliary lights, and many more add-ons available, as well.
