BMW F10 M5 Goes from 0 to 270 km/h in 25 Seconds

It must be really great living in Germany. Why? Because you have all those unrestricted Autobahns at your disposal. For someone that has a 560 HP beast in his possession, it must feel like heaven.

It’s the case of the guy behind Youtube channel BerlinTomek that apparently got his hands on a brand new BMW F10 M5 and is now testing the wheels off it on the aforementioned roads.

In one of his latest videos, he takes the sedan up to 270 km/h (168 mph) in under 25 seconds. Furthermore, he didn’t use launch control and skidded all over the place when starting off.

A couple of interesting details do pop-up though. At around 200 km/h (124 mph) the DSC system kicks in or, at least that’s what the dashboard light seems to be suggesting. According to the poster, the road was dry and he wasn’t cornering or anything therefore, if the DSC did kick in, it must’ve been due to the gear change. That’s really impressive.

Furthermore, there's another confusing detail hidden in there. The car appears to be limited at 270 km/h (168 mph). However, BMW claims that the M5 can go up to only 250 km/h (155 mph) or 305 km/h (190 mph) with the MDM option. Some questions need answering here.

Looking at this video, one can’t help but wonder why is everyone getting so caught up in the numbers game. OK, so the new Bimmers are heavier than they used to but when they’re capable of such things, does it really matter that much?
