Most people say ‘not everyone can afford an M5’ and they are basically right. Then they go ahead and buy themselves a 550i that is cheaper but not by much. Adding a couple of aftermarket parts will then make the total cost reach dangerously close to the one of an M5. And then, we come around and ask you: was it worth it?
We guess it all depends on what you’re going to do with that car, in the end. Most people never get to a track, never do one proper lap around a circuit and don’t actually get to explore the character of an M car to its full extent.

That doesn’t mean that they don’t enjoy the power or the sound of a proper V8. The M5 and the 550i both use a 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo petrol engine but in different versions of tune. The Motorsport developed S63 unit has 560 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque while the N63 from the 550i has just 450 HP and 650 Nm (487 lb-ft) of torque.

This particular 550i we’re showing you here seems to be more focused on being good to drive rather than be a precise performance tool. Therefore, it’s owner was focused on making it look good and sound incredible rather than take it to the track.

In this regard, the F10 received an M Sport trunk spoiler, a Vorsteiner carbon fibre front lip and a rear diffuser from the same manufacturer, carbon fiber side mirrors, BC Forged HB05S 20 inch wheels and a Meisterschaft quad exhaust that we’re sure brings out the best notes of that V8.

On the performance side (as that wasn’t completely left out after all) we could mention the Brembo GT 6-piston brakes that you’ll surely notice due to their yellow calipers and the Megan coilovers. The result can be admired in the photo gallery below thanks to the guys from Hawk’n’Poke.
