I’m sure you already know by now that the BMW i8 will be the first car in the world to use laser light technology for its headlights. This will mark a first both in the company’s history and in the automotive world. However, some people still wonder why laser is better than LED.

That’s why BMW put together a short clip explaining briefly why the i8’s technology is superior to everything else you can find on the market right now. We’ll let the video explain and won’t go into details.

The i8 is the first plug-in hybrid sports car from BMW, meant to prove to the world that efficiency isn’t the death of passionate driving. It’s using an internal combustion engine and an electric one that together make 362 HP and 570 Nm of torque, enough to propel the car to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds whilst eating up just 2.5 liters of fuel per each 100 km/h (94 mpg).
