BMW Blue Dynamics Land Yacht Concept
The concept is similar (in design at least) with Richard Jenkin’s Ecotricity Greenbird that took the he world land speed record for wind-powered vehicles in March 26, 2009, managing to reach a top speed of 126.2 mph (202.9 km/h).
"The challenge was to incorporate the style of a premium vehicle with the exclusiveness of a yacht, powered by an environmental force-wind," Radev was quoted as saying by Autobloggreen. "It is an interpretation of the idea through the eyes of a premium automobile brand like BMW, which has taken a path of creating environmentally-friendly cars that carry a distinctive style and emotional character."
The three-wheel machine, or Land Yacht as Radev likes to call it, features a rigid sail to harness the energy of the wind. The driver can adjust the sail from the cockpit, while the entry to the cockpit is located through the concept’s elevating windscreen.
“The name “Blue Dynamics” combines a symbolic connection of the wind (air) and BMW’s “efficient dynamics”, “active hybrid” greener emission programs,” Radev added. “The playground of “Blue Dynamics” is flat a open space like deserts or beaches with typical wind conditions.”
The futuristic BMW Blue Dynamics Land Yacht concept, however, has not been commissioned or sponsored by the German carmaker, as it is just an exercise. Nevertheless, after we saw the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept revealed last week, seeing this land yacht in production in the next couple of years would be no surprise.
