BMW’s current offering of hybrid models is rather limited. Apart from the i8, there’s no other model that can be recharged using a wall socket. You do, however, have the option of choosing an ActiveHybrid model out of the 3 out there.
That’s what today’s ‘hero’ did and he went for the smallest of the bunch, the ActiveHybrid 3. However, he wasn’t completely pleased with his car and the area that he though would need the biggest changes was the exhaust. That’s right, out of all the things that could’ve been improved, he chose the exhaust.

Now, we really have to give it up for our man here as he made the best choice, if we’re to be honest. As far as we know there aren’t too many tuning kits available for the AH3 model, and a complete overhaul of the exterior design wouldn’t have made much more sense either.

Therefore, adding some more grunt in the audio department is the right choice. He also went for a Borla ATAK stainless steel exhaust that gave it a special sound, different from all the ‘Eisenmanns’ and ‘Akrapovics’ out there. How special you ask? Well, we think it sounds rather good.

And thinking about it, why shouldn’t it? After all, under the bonnet hides a 3-liter turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine that makes 300 HP and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The N55 plant always had a beautiful sound to it, no matter the configuration.

Of course, on top of that, there’s also an electric unit making 55 HP and 210 Nm (155 lb-ft) of torque. But since that one doesn’t make a sound, we’re going to leave all that to the N55. Oh, and in case you want to get an exhaust like that too, you should know its just $1,265.
