Turning the 5 Series GT into the 6 Series GT is more than just a rebadging, because the vehicle will get an all-new platform, which is named CLAR. We are referring to the technical platform of the current 7 Series, which is also employed in a different form in the smaller 2017 5 Series.

Both models have received new generations in the past 18 months, so it was only natural for the car that slots between them to be refreshed.

As you can observe, the 6 Series GT does not stray from the shape that characterized this body style in the BMW lineup. The first ever 5 Series GT is hard to love, especially if you looked at its profile and its rear, but things changed once you drove it or, better yet, sat in the back.

The next 6 Series GT does not plan to modify the passenger experience, but it will improve the styling as much as possible without straying from the concept of this body style.

The 6 Series GT will probably become the most practical car ever to wear the 6 Series badge, and it is all to do with the rear hatch, which will allow clients to fit massive objects in the trunk. Well, not as bulky as anything you can fit into the back of a wagon, but it will still provide more space than any sedan in the BMW lineup.

The upcoming 6 Series GT is expected to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain option. While the prototype that is visible in the photo gallery does not have a plug-in configuration, this propulsion solution has been implemented in similar-sized models in the BMW range.

The 5 GT used to be the only one that did not have a hybrid option. This is expected to shift with the next 6 GT, which is supposed to come to market as a 2018 model year car.

In over fourteen years, he got behind the wheel of several hundred vehicles and in the offices of the most important car publications in his homeland.
