If the Germans have such a thing as old-timers, cars like the 2CV, BMW 507 and Ghia, we figured you guys might be able to appreciate this 435i Convertible, even if it is a little old.
The more current BMWs launched since 2015 have a new 3-liter turbo engine from the B-series. Just look at the attention-grabbing M140i or 540i. However, the focus of our attention is a 4er convertible (a 435i), so having the latest tech with the most torque is not relevant. You don't want to have your rear tires overpowered every time you hit the has, do you?
The BMW community treats the work of one dealership called BMW Abu Dhabi as being quite special, and for a good reason. These Middle Eastern magicians give us i8 after eye-opening i8, mashed together with the odd convertible here and there. Boy, they must really be immune to skin cancer over there...
Their last project was a purple i8, and we don't particularly like purple. But red is an entirely different thing, especially in a convertible 4 Series. With chromed wheels, this thing is going to age as well as week-old bananas, but you can always do something about that.
While the 435i falls short of the M4 in the tech department, we're confident that this one costs about as much and grabs as much attention. The red paint adds a layer of visual drama, and it's joined by plenty of carbon fiber trim pieces from the M Performance parts catalog.
These include the eye candy front air splitter and the uber-expensive Akrapovic exhaust system with carbon fiber tips. This car also has the 35i single-turbo engine, so it should sound good, even if it can't match the M4 for outright speed.
The interior is kind of bland, covered in black leather and silver trim, just like every BMW out there. But the custom steering wheel is covered in Alcantara and has a red top dead center mark.
