The BMW family of compact executive cars is nearing completion. Almost all the 3 and 4 series models have already been revealed, but we're still missing a major player. After turning the 3er Coupe into a 4er, the automaker want to make a four-door coupe version, similar to the one based on the 6 Series.
We've been tracking the car for quite a while now and have seen the 4 Series Gran Coupe both on the German streets and on track at the Nurburgring. Yet new patent images emerging from China have completely revealed the car today. Not surprisingly, the design is hard to distinguish from that of the F30 sedan which underpins it. However, the GC will be wider and longer and has a distinctive tapered design to the C-pillar.
Expect this new Bimmer to be officially revealed early next year, either at the Geneva Motor Show in March or Beijing in April. The engine lineup will be the same as the regular coupe and will include 2-liter and 3-liter mills. Currently, the 4 Series is sold in China in 428i and 435i forms, but this patent image is of a 420i or 420d, judging from the single exhaust.
