BMW 3D Extravaganza in Singapore

We must admit, this is perhaps the best use of 3D technology we've seen so far (yes, better even than Avatar). Although we must admit what you will see in the video below can only do so much (being on the spot when this was shot must have been a real treat), just looking at what a carmaker's out-of- the-box way of thinking can do is nothing but inspiring.

"Watch as we transform busy office buildings in Singapore from a symbol of work, into a symbol of Joy," BMW said to advertise the event.

The special event designed by BMW for the both expecting and unsuspecting crowds in Singapore is said to be only a preview of the carmaker's entrance into the realm of 3D TV.

The 2 minutes long clip was projected on twin office buildings in Suntec City some couple of week ago, but has only recently become public, for unknown reasons, on May 25.

The ad combines, under the BMW Joy 3D tagline, BMW vehicles, existing BMW ads, urban art and classic video games like Pacman and Pong.

We're not sure where BMW's endeavor will lead, or if their idea will be picked up by others and turned into the outdoor advertising of the future. What remains behind this visual experiment is a taste of how the right technology would perform in the right hands.

In the end, like the ad says, "work, work, work, only if it brings you joy, joy, joy..."
