BMW has updated its 3 Series-based crossover, the 3 Series Gran Turismo, and it showcased the model at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.
The updated model has strengthened its key abilities and has received a new look. Through the refresh, BMW has introduced a more aggressive look for the 3 Series Gran Turismo, and the car is now available with three gasoline engines and five diesel power plants.
The three gas units are making their debut in the BMW range through this model, and so is the four-cylinder diesel that is dubbed 325 d.
The engine range provides between 150 HP to 326 HP, in eight power plant options. Other four-cylinder engines will be available starting next year. BMW says it has reduced fuel consumption for all engine versions. The 320d Gran Turismo is now 13.8 percent more frugal than before.
The front end prides itself with standard LED headlights for dipped and high beam, and LED fog lamps have also been introduced. BMW has modified the front stance of this model with a redesign of the bumper. The rear has also received a few changes, including a new bumper, revised taillights, and several new lines in between.
The interior of the 3 Series GT has received new materials and finishes, as well as a new interface for the Professional Navigation system, which has been borrowed from the flagship model, the 7 Series. The 3 Series GT facelift also prides itself with improved smartphone connectivity, and a greater feeling of luxury.
The controls have extra chrome trim, and customers will also discover more wood elements. The options list included more available features and materials.
The seating position has been altered, while the rear seats feature more leg room. The trunk offers a volume between 520 and 1,600 liters, where the latter value is available if the rear seats are folded.
BMW has decided to introduce the updated version of the Professional Navigation system on the 3 Series Gran Turismo, which is the first mid-size model in the range that is available with the element.
The changes to the system include a tile-based style, and a more intuitive user interface. There is also an inductive tray for charging smartphones wirelessly, if they support that feature.
Just like other models in the BMW range, the 3 Series GT facelift is available in four equipment lines. The M Sport version is the only one that allows customers to choose the superb “Estoril Blue” seen in the photo gallery and the top picture of this article. The other trim lines are named Sport Line, Luxury Line, and Advantage.
