Bill Gates’ latest blog post, titled “The Day the Moon Blew Up,” is a fine read for sci-fi, technology, and automotive enthusiasts alike. The entry also includes a 3-minute Virtual Reality video in which the richest man in the world drives a Tesla Model X and orders a rather delicious burger with “onions and stuff.”
Every now and then, Bill does book recommendations on his blog. This time around, the co-founder of Microsoft talks about Seveneves, the latest novel by Neal Stephenson. The plot is exactly what you would expect from a science fiction story: preserving human society in the wake of the Moon’s disintegration.

Bill Gates and Neal Stephenson get together in the VR video, talking about Seveneves. The clip also gives an intriguing insight into Gates’ passion for the latest advances in the automotive industry. More to the point, Bill and Neal discuss their mutual passion for science fiction while Bill drives a Tesla Model X. However, does Bill own the car? Considering that the plate reads 7 EVES, I believe that the Model X belongs to Neal.

In his early days at the Microsoft Corporation, Bill bought a Porsche 930 (also known as The Widowmaker). The most famous car owned by Gates is a Porsche 959 that Bill bought in the late 1980s. In our recently published cover story about ten of the most iconic homologation specials, you’ll find out why the richest man in the world couldn’t drive the German supercar for the better part of 13 years.

The change from flat-six bravado to dual-motor electric buzz is fascinating as is, but the most fascinating thing is that Bill Gates likes fast food. Follow this hyperlink to see a man who’s worth $75.8 billion order “the Combo 2 with the medium Diet Coke and then everything on the burger including onions and stuff.”
