If anything, we just can’t get enough motorcycle adventure documentaries. The Mondo Enduro and the Long Way Round seeds caught and sprouted a whole new dimension of motorcycle riding and adding in all the multimedia advances of the last years only makes things better, because bike adventures can now be fully documented. So here’s Beyond Siberia, a new movie which will be available on DVD this spring.
Beyond Siberia – Riding the Road of Bones partly recreates the story of the Long Way Round trip Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman took years ago and which brought them from London to Magadan in Eastern Russia, across the Bering Strait in Alaska and crossing the United States.
The movie is the story of a guided adventure trip under the supervision of Compass Expeditions. The 105-day-long adventure visits 16 countries and 11 time zones, along a 28,500 km (16,500 miles) route from London to Magadan.
The price includes meals, support and accommodations for the entire trip. Other bikes can be supplied if the R1200GS is not your fav choice, but you will have to settle for a BMW nevertheless. F700GS and F800GS are also on the menu, and frankly, we’d go for the lightest of them. No matter who says what, a fully-loaded R1200GS in the mud or on really hard terrain is a nightmare.
Optionally you can also join the tour in Istanbul or Moscow and ride with the rest of the pack to Magadan, with the prices varying accordingly. For complete info on this adventure, make sure you check with Compass Expeditions. The Beyond Siberia – Riding the Road of Bones DVD will become available this April, as advpulse reports.
