Bentley Wants a Slice of China's Success Cake Too
The United States is at this time the number one market for Bentley but, if everything goes as planned, China should take the leading position in a few years.
Wolfgang Dürheimer, chairman and CEO of Bentley, said that new models are on track to be launched in China, including the Continental GT and Mulsane, but no specific dates have been disclosed.
However, vehicles to be sold in China will differ from the ones delivered to the rest of the world, as the company intends to adapt its products in order to correspond to local demands. Different engines and some other modifications will be developed to comply with local regulations and customer needs, China Car Times reports, while hybrid vehicles could be released in a few years.
One of the ways Bentley wants to expand in China is to also increase the number of stores across the country. At this time, the luxury brand operates a total of 147 dealers across the world, 13 of which are only based in China. As for sales, China remains a competitive market, with no less than 815 units sold in the country in the calendar year that ended December 31.
