Bentley Mulsanne Station Wagon Rendering Doesn't Look Half Bad

Rolls-Royce and Bentley have used the noble asset of their British origins to try and pretend they compete in different areas of the lavish segment. And while that is true up to an extent, Coventry and Crewe do overlap on many occasions. And this even happens when it comes to automotive fantasies, such as the one we want to discuss today.
After we showed you a Rolls-Royce Shooting Brake yesterday, we want to switch over to Bentley, whose Mulsanne has artfully been imagined as a station wagon. The rendering comes from the same artist who brought us the RR SB mentioned above, namely Rain Prisk Designs.

Here’s a good reason for which this idea is not as crazy as it might seem

Sure, the idea of Bentley building such a contraption might seem preposterous, but things are not that wild. For one thing, Bentley CEO Wolfgang Durheimer has a passion for expanding the line-up.

The executive spent a few years at Audi before returning to his Bentley CEO seat, and in that time, some of the projects he had overseen, such as a Mulsanne convertible, were put on hold.

Now that he has returned, Durheimer started testing the waters for the introduction of coupe and convertible versions of the Mulsanne. While at least one of these machines seemed like a certainty, we can’t say that anymore.

Now that the Dieselgate scandal continues to grow, the chances of such models entering production are becoming slimmer. Volkswagen may have prepared $11 million to deal with the consequences of their cheating actions, but a Credit Suisse report estimates the financial toll could raise up to $87 billion.

Among others, this means any model that is not entirely relevant for the brand it serves will be put on a more or less indefinite hold.

And when two-door versions of the Mulsanne get the axe, don’t expect the company to even dream about an estate. Purists can be at peace now.
