While we are now about two weeks away from the Bentley Bentayga’s reveal at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the British engineers are hard at work on the Nurburgring, developing what we expect to be the Speed incarnation of the SUV.
We’ll remind you the standard Bentayga (yes, now we get to call it that) has leaked earlier this month, thanks to a scale model that allowed us to see the finished design of the car.
However, the tentatively-named Bentayga Speed isn’t shy when it comes to showing us its bad boy focused gentleman attitude. It all starts with the different front apron, which comes with greedier air intakes, as well as a more pronounced front lip.
The beefed-up side skirts are also worth mentioning, while at the rear the new bumper is eclipsed by the surprising (for Bentley) roof spoiler.
Even if we exclude all the aero parts mentioned above, the massive carbon ceramic brakes concealed behind the sporty wheels give away the prototype’s go-fast intention.
In fact, the aural experience alone is enough to set this Bentayga apart. The SUV had a distinct W12 soundtrack, one that appeared more menacing compared to the Bentayga prototypes we’ve spotted before.
While “W12” may be appropriate for describing this Crewe development, we must tip our hats to the all-new W12 that will motivate the standard Bentayga. This shall serve as the main ingredient in terms of powerplant choices, with the engine expected to deliver 608 PS (447 kW) and 900 Nm (663 lb-ft) of torque.
If we are to pay attention to what the Speed moniker usually does, we should see an output increase of around 30 hp and 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) of torque. Until we get more info on the matter, enjoy the all-out bucket seat supporting the driver of this Bentley.
