An US-based grout got the Benelli trademark and logo and is planning to organize a brand comeback in this market, with scooters and ATVs.
Benelli is regarded as te oldest European motorcycle manufacturer, and even though the brand is now owned by Chinese group Quiangjiang, the production and distribution have been rather modest.
However, this might change, at least for the scooter and ATV segments as the new trademark owners are planning to start offering Benelli Motor Sports 50cc scooters and 250cc ATV in 2014. These are said to be the first of a larger line-up, estimated to become 25 models strong, and including small boat engines.
The parts will be fabricated and imported from Taiwan, as the manufacturer claims they are superior to those made in China. A factory is currently being built in Sikeston, Mo. And it will emply aroud 100 workers.
With distributors in Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois, Nebraska, South Carolina and Tennessee, one of the key assets of the new business will be the capability of delivering guaranteed parts with 24-hour shipping for all customers.
This means the parts imports will be significant and servicing is expected to be top notch, which might be a huge advantage for the new business.
