Barack Obama Wants Decent Plans in Order to Grant the Loan
David Axelrod Obama's Cheif of Staff appeared on TV saying that the soon to be president wants to see a plan to "retool and rationalize", adding that without a good plan there isn't that much that they can do to fix the issue.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that she hoped car manufacturers have "gotten the message" about the need of the elaborate planing, which is due to be shown in Congress on the December 2nd.
Axelrod also attacked manufacturers when he said that they needed to “take a commercial flight” or to get in their most fuel efficient cars to get to the US capital.
General Motors sold a total of 170,585 vehicles in October and although these figures look immense they underline the fact that the US manufacturer's numbers are tumbling down. This month alone car sales went down by 34% in comparison with the same period of the last year, while truck sales tumbled by 51%.
According to Autonews, in an effort to sell more cars, Chrysler lures dealerships to buy more and more cars until the end of the year, by offering incentives.
"What we're doing is fighting for survival. We recognize it's a hand-to-hand combat situation where we're digging for every sale,” as Autonews say.
The situation is grim, but there are hopes to retrieve old giants, although there are major efforts that need to be be done in this matter.
