Bad Habit Breaks Monster Truck Jump Record

It's official, Big Foot has been outclassed. The iconic truck which for about eight years was synonymous with the longest jump ever performed by a monster truck has been sent to the history books by Bad Habit. The record breaking jump took place last Sunday at at the Miller Farm. The record setting jump took Bad Habit through the air for 208 feet (63.4 meters).

“This has been a dream come true and I can’t thank everyone enough who has helped and supported me through the entire process!!” says Joe Sylvester.

The record jump did not go without glitches though, as the truck lost its Chevrolet engine earlier last week, during testing. The first jump performed on Sunday was much shorter than the record setting one, at only 197 feet (60 meters).

The fact that Bad Habit was still in good shape after the first jump allowed for another one, which proved to be the successful attempt. During the second run, the truck managed to reach 79 mph (127 km/h), faster than the 74 mph (119 km/h) it reached during the first run and enough to boost the truck further.

The truck, owned and driven by Joe Sylvester, is based on a custom DOM Tube Chassis designed by Joe Sylvester and Jerry Richmond and wrapped in a 2010 Country Cadillac body.

Bad Habit is powered by a Steve Vance Racing Chevrolet engine with 871 blower which is capable of developing a mind boggling 1,200+ horsepower.

The jump, and most importantly the landing, were made possible by Spooled F106 axles and Travel TNT coilovers with reverse accumulator nitrogen shocks (18 inches at the front and 26 inches at the rear).
