Aznom Abarth 500 Powersliding Video

The Fiat 500 is a nice car to drive. The Abarth version, which packs 135 hp (or 160 hp, in the Esseesse version’s case) is a little bomb, we can tell you that as we’ve been directly hit by its explosion while testing it. However, if you really want a 500 that can rule the (motoring) world, you’ll have to turn to the tuning market.

Ready for a radical proposal? Aznom decided to turn the 500 into the Motore Centrale R230. What does that mean? The vehicle’s 1.4-liter turbocharged engine was tweaked to deliver 230 hp and a peak torque of 330 Nm (243 lb-ft).

This is the most impressive modification kit we’ve seen for this car. No, not thanks to the output, as other tuners offer even more grunt, but thanks to the fact that the front end has been freed from the engine’s burden. That’s right, Aznom moved the powerplant at the center of the car. Along with this, the tuner also converted the 500 to rear-wheel-drive, with the result promising to be stunning. The 1.050 kgs of the car are pushed past the 62 mph mark in 4.7 seconds, while the top speed sits at 152 mph (245 km/h).

Now that’s all fine and dandy, but these number never tell the complete story. So, to really know what the car is capable of, we’d also have to be able to evaluate its cornering ability.

Well, the adjacent video, which was shot by Marchetinno, shows us the Aznom Abarth 500 drifting and baking donuts. Unfortunately, the result doesn’t match to our expectations. Our explanation: a short wheelbase doesn’t quite help with powersliding and, more importantly, the driver doesn’t seem to be that skilled.
