I've come to hate the current version of the Avengers. They are like Broadway actors pretending to be billionaires, soldiers, spies, etc. I mean, how does Iron Man still have time to trim his stupid sideburns every day? Likewise, the vehicles being featured in these movies are pointless product placement from Audi, sometimes Honda.
The Audi R8 has been with the franchise since the early days, but I think the German supercar doesn't fit the picture anymore. Sure, it's fast, but a V10 track car in a world where people fly? It's like using a screwdriver to fix the Star Trek teleporter.
But I digress; the point is that Austin Mahone has bought a new car and made it his personal Iron Man-themed cruiser. The BMW i8 may be popular for its funky suicide doors, but the powertrain sells it as a credible futuristic vehicle. It's not the first hybrid sportscar, but like the Tesla Model S, it's the one that made people think "green" is cool.
We're not going to bother discussing what Austin Mahone does for a living. Instead, let's just focus on the custom stuff. First, he called on the help of Miami wrapping pros Metro Wrap to get the body in satin red. It's a complete transformation with golden accents on the grille and side skirts. Black is sometimes used to emphasize the high-tech nature of the project.
We can't ignore the wheels. They are Vossen Forged VPS-305t tinted gold and sized 22×8.5 inches at the front and 22×10 inches at the rear. All the rubber is from Pirelli and should stick nicely to the road if Mahone ever decided to do drag racing.
The i8 is not the most comfortable car in the world, but Iron Man here has also been fitted with lowered suspension that makes you wonder if the tires won't rub on the wheel well. Still this singer has a bunch of other vehicles, so he should be okay.
Knowing him, the i8 will be sold within a year. So we'd like to end this story with a little question for you guys. The Ferrari F430; nobody wants one except Doug DeMuro. So how long do you think the i8 will be considered cool - 2, 3... 5 years?
