Young hip hop artist August Alsina has recently bought himself a nice black Range Rover Sport and proudly posted an image of it on his Instagram Account. Funny thing is he decided to put the cover of the “2014 XXL Freshmen Class” next to the car, to prove his tallent made it possible and not selling drugs.
Where did the days when success was measured in the number of sold albums go? It seems nowadays it’s all about the hundred-thousand-dollar supercars rappers hide in their garages or how powerful the engines are. That’s how this 21-year old fresh rapper thinks anyway, considering he felt the need to prove that his car was bought out of legal money he earned performing.

“Always told myself I’d cop a Rover and at 21 I did it! I also always thought I’d cop it from drug money... But this! This Legal money & ain’t shit more special than that,” Alsina wrote along the picture.

However, this fellow’s life seems like the classic movie story. Even though no one in his family was an artist, he was inspired to sing by Lauryn Hill in the Sister Act 2 movie. The hip hop singer first uploaded videos to YouTube in 2007, being 14 at the time.

He had problems with his mother not agreeing with his music plans so he ended up leaving his home and moving to Atlanta. After his older brother, Melvin La’Branch III, was shot and killed on August 31, 2010, he became more committed to this career path. Alsina has released one album and was successful enough for the rap music magazine to include him in the 2014 XXL Freshmen Class.

As to the car, we agree, it’s a supercharged 5.0-liter supercharged V8 rated at 510 hp. But is this luxury sport SUV enough to brag about, taking into account all those hypercars rappers nowadays pose next to?
