Audi is honoring the R8 LMS’ debut win at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring last year with a special edition of the production model.
We are talking about the Audi R8 Coupe V10 plus Selection 24h. That’s the full name of the limited-edition coupe from Audi, which will only be made in 24 examples. You can guess why they will only make 24 of them, can’t you? Great, moving on.
The German brand wanted to celebrate the GT3-class R8 LMS inaugural win, which led to a successful year for Audi Sport. Furthermore, the R8 LMS is being honored for achieving 323 wins in national and international race events since 2009, an impressive feat for any nameplate.
Now, let’s go into details with the “Selection 24h.” Audi spells it with a small “s,” but we’ve used a capital letter for clarity. The limited-edition model is based on the R8 Coupe V10 plus and features a 5.2-liter V10 engine.
It provides 610 HP and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.2 seconds. Its top speed is 330 km/h (205 mph). The performance figures above make the R8 V10 plus the most powerful and fastest production Audi of all time.
Additional to the standard model, the “Selection 24h” has dynamic steering, adaptive damper control, Audi magnetic ride, and Audi laser lights. The exterior is finished in a tricolor paint finish. The latter uses “Suzuka Gray” as the base, while “Mythos Black,” and “Misano Red” are the highlights.
The exterior of the limited-edition R8 Coupe V10 plus also has a carbon fiber front spoiler, exterior mirror casings, engine compartment cover, rear wing, and rear diffuser, all with a gloss finish. The same treatment was applied to the front side blades, but these have matte-finish. Meanwhile, the 20-inch forged aluminum wheels are painted gloss anthracite black, and have a 10-spoke Y design, and the tailpipes of the exhaust system also have black tips.
Once inside, occupants can enjoy the full leather upholstery and trim elements finished in “rotor gray.” The headliner is of Alcantara, while several parts in the cockpit, like the air vents, are made of CFRP.
The “R8 24h” logo is present in multiple places, both inside and out. Each vehicle is numbered from 1 to 24. This exclusive edition of the R8 also comes with a unique feature - the lights on the doors project the “Audi R8” logo onto the pavement.
Customers will be able to place orders on this model starting today, May 10, 2016. In Germany, it starts at €229,000.
