Audi Ukraine Shows the Colorful Side of German Convertibles

When Audi revealed the all-new A3 Cabriolet we were more than a little reluctant to like it. There's nothing particularly wrong with the way it's designed. In fact, it's actually better than the hatch from some angles and comes with more kit. However, there's something… wrong about the thinking behind it.

Being front-wheel drive, the A3 Cab' is a poser's car, like a Megane CC or VW Eos. Unlike the first generation, which was based on the 3-door hatch, the new model revolves around the much longer shell of a sedan. However, taking the roof off means a huge amount of weight has to be added in order to stiffen the body. So you're left with a heavy, big Audi built to go very slowly. They even make a version powered by a 110 hp 1.6L diesel.

However, any short trip to Saint-Tropez coast will show you that driving around very slowly in a beautiful convertible is an awesome thing. But why does it have to be the Mediterranean, why not the Black Sea?

Audi Ukraine recently organized the most interesting launch even welcoming the A3 Cabriolet into the world. Called Open Sky Experience, it featured some very brightly colored examples of the new drop-top, proving that not all Audis have to be boring and gray.

Any fan of the brand will notice there's something a little special about these colors, some of them borrowed from the Exclusive catalog, like the acidic-looking Viper Green. Even the leather interiors are bright, proving you don't need a big V6 engine with 300 horsepower to enjoy an Audi.

Speaking of engines, Audi Ukraine also snuck in the RS5 and S5 for the ultimate cabrio experience. However, the new S3 convertible was conspicuously missing, its performance 2-liter turbo sound surely having been missed by aficionados. We'll stop our story here, before we turn it into an advertorial, and recommend that you check out the photo gallery below.
