Audi to Buy Alfa Romeo?
According to a WardsAuto report, Alfa Romeo is "at the core of top-level negotiations" between Audi and Fiat, with Ingolstadt sources claiming that the Milano automaker might be sold to the Volkswagen-owned brand.
Furthermore, Audi is reportedly interested in buying not only Alfa Romeo, but Fiat's Pomigliano assembly plant and the Magneti Marelli auto parts unit as well. However, both Fiat and Audi have declined to confirm speculations, so we might stir the rumor mill for a while longer. Since Fiat is in deep financial trouble, it will be interesting to see where this whole plot actually leads too.
Audi already owns three Italian companies, including supercar builder Lamborghini, motorcycle manufacturer Ducati and styling company Italdesign-Giugiaro.
