Audi Starts Twitter War With Honda Over NSX Similarities to 1991 Quattro Spyder Concept

While many people think Audi first went into the idea of a mid-engined sports/supercar with the R8, the idea is in fact much older. Back in 1991, Audi showed off a very nice looking concept, at the Frankfurt Auto Show. It was a mid-engined car, not too dissimilar to the current R8, which was powered by a 2.8-liter V6 engine, with 174 hp.

Now that you have all the background information, let`s move on to the story. Apparently, Audi of America retweeted a message posted on Twitter, which said something about the Honda/Acura NSX concept looking a lot like the aforementioned concept. The tweet was posted by @mattphenix, who also added a photo of the original concept, to illustrate his point.

Still, it is highly-unusual for an automaker to do such a thing, even through its Twitter account administrator, because it is not something which is being done in the industry nowadays.People can no longer say what they really think, as they run the risk of being sued.

We`re curious how far this will go, and what actions Audi and Honda will both take to set things straight.
