The fact that Audi is looking to expand its SUV lineup is no breaking news, but the company’s technical chief Wolfgang Durheimer agreed to share a few more details.
Speaking to Autocar, the former Bentley employee said that SUVs are Audi’s biggest priority and that a bigger vehicle to be slotted above the Q7 might show up in the lineup. Also, Durheimer wants to push Audi-owned brand Lamborghini to develop their own SUV.
“SUVs are our biggest priority. I pushed for the Bentley SUV and I'm pushing for Audi to make something in this segment also. I could see Bentley and Audi both making SUVs, and Lamborghini also; in my job I'm trying to encourage the project to progress,” said the company representative.
The new SUV is said to be badged Q8 and combine Range Rover Sport-like exterior looks and the ultra luxurious interior features found on the Audi A8 flagship sedan.
