Audi is master of the restrained performance car, the competent rather than potent machine. It's not surprising then that they put together a nice, small performance crossover that looks like the RS Q3.
Basically, the RS Q3 is like mating the RS3 with the body of a crossover. It's powered by a 2.5-liter TFSI, a five-cylinder engine that has won them many awards. In this application, it only makes 310 PS, just 10 more than their new 2.0 TFSI which went into the S3. However, 420 Nm of torque from just 1,500 rpm makes it more suitable for a crossover.
We've been waiting to see this car enter production for about a year now, and finally it's about to. Audi UK released a statement saying the RS Q3 is available for order, with prices starting at £43,000 OTR. It's a significant increase over the current most expensive Q3, which currently is £31,100, but you do get a lot of extra performance.
We're talking 0 to 62mph in 5.5 seconds and an electronically limited to 155 mph. It's not exactly a fuel binger either. Audi says you could potentially do 32.1mpg on the combined cycle.
