Supercars showing up at weddings has almost become something mainstream, so an Audi R8 Spyder recently decided to make a real surprise. The R8 had to do something special, so it... caught fire out of the blue during the wedding.
It all happened in Lyon, France and the video below shows the car burning. It appears that the engine compartment became an example of spontaneous combustion. The driver put the hazard lights on and left the car in the middle of a parking lot, pretty close to Fiat Uno.
All the efforts made to put the fire away using an extinguisher were useless. The flames spread quickly, also starting to devour the interior of the R8. And if the engine cover kept us from seeing the powerplant getting roasted, watching that leather burn is pure pain.
This is the facelifted version of the V10-powered supercar, but we have to note that the move wasn’t all that original. We remember the Audi R8 V10 prototype burning on the Nurburgring during the supercar’s development phase. In fact, the Audi R8 Spyder was recalled due to fuel leaks back in 2011.
