Audi fans eager to take experience the new MQB platform and EA888 engines Audi now offers in a strictly 2+2 coupe body will be glad to know that the third generation TT will go on sale in 2014.
"In addition to the innovative Audi A3 Sportback e-tron and A3 Sportback g-tron, the brand with the four rings plans to launch the third generation of its design icon, the Audi TT Coupé, on the market in 2014," an official Ingolstadt press release states.
The first generation TT came out in 1998 and despite criticism over its uninspired driving performance and design it quickly gained popularity. A second generation coupe, which is still in production, was launched in 2006. S and RS models, together with special edition and convertible version, cemented the TT as a success story.
We've seen the TT on a number of occasions, as prototypes have been testing across Europe. Looking like an evolution of the current generation model, the third-gen coupe will use the same platform as the A3 and will offer similar powertrains.
We thing these three engines will be offered from launch with the next generation TT:
