After Porsche’s Le Mans win back in June, it seems like the pressure is starting to affect Dr. Wolfgang Ulrich, the Audi Motorsport boss, who has earned a carbon fiber-solid reputation thanks to orchestrating the carmaker’s 13 Le Mans win, was recently exposed on live TV while ordering an Audi DTM driver to push a rival off the track.
It all happened during Sunday’s Red Bull Ring DTM event, which was a soaking wet race - Audi’s Timo Scheider was fighting a pair of Mercedes-Benz driver, Pascal Wehrlein and Robert Wickens. When the three exited Turn 2, Wehrlein pulled a master maneuver on the inside, passing both his teammate and the Audi driver.
Scheider fell behind both Mercedes-Benz drivers and, as they approached Turned 3, we could hear Dr. Ulrich over the radio, telling his driver “schieb ihn raus”, which translated to “push him out”.
The driver instantly accelerated into the back of Wicken’s Mercedes. Due to the low grip, this sent the latter into Wehrlein, with both Mercedes drivers going off the track in that turn.
Both Scheider and his boss claim they were on different channels went the command was issued, but this only comes to spark the internet debate.
Furthermore, we hope this won’t evolve into a fender-bending war between the two brands, as certain rumors suggest.

As for Mercedes
Wehrlein was the most affected of the two Mercedes-Benz drivers, as the incident costed him the 2015 DTM leadership status.
